A·bout

Mission

  • To publish the intersection of image and text.
  • To assist writers in deepening their craft
  • To promote intertextual literacy

Vision

  • Plur·al·ity Press aspires to be the lead publisher & curator of hybrid text--
  • advancing how both image and language are consumed and created.
  • Increased intermedia literacy.

Our Story

The press was founded in April 2016 and is located in Buffalo, New York. It began as a grassroots initiative via the Poets’ Camp and the Allentown Writers’ Workshop, which gathered poets adjacent to the university setting interested in creating space for non-mainstream writers to develop their craft and build community. The press grew out of discussions in the aforementioned spaces around the difficulty people of color and non-mainstream writers were facing, in terms of access and speed, in getting published.

Features

Our Blogs
In·ter·punct shares book reviews, reflexive essays, lit theory, news and daily musings from the intimate lives of poets. Like the interpunct, which is a middot used to separate syllables, this blog seeks to highlight, in an edgy and sprightly fashion, the poetic moments that punctuate our lives.

We feature four staff blog contributors: Ashley Quinn, Fred Whitehead, Rachel J. Johnson and Julio Valentin.

Lit·Design is a visual exploration into the relationship between literary arts and space. Whether out in nature, on the page, with architecture or somewhere out of this world—language is the space in which we, at the innermost, dwell.

We are featuring the image-text poetry of Jordan Brown and growing our contributor listing for Lit·Design.

Academic Journal
Con·course is our arts & scholarly journal that features interdisciplinary works. It seeks to express a kineticism in placing image and text in conversation with one another. The journal is not only a published work but also doubles as art, itself, in its treatment of typography, coloration and material design.

Writer Retreats
The Poets' Camp is our writers' retreat focused on building communities of poets, exchanging skills and processes and providing space for deepening craft. Plur·al·ity Press has held three successful retreats. Applications are open all year round.

The Poets' Camp - Summer Tent
The Poets' Camp - Winter Cabin Edition
